December 2010 - AutoTrader.com purchases Homenet Yes, it is official. AutoTrader.com is acquiring Homenet by the end of the year. I have alluded to many of you that after their purchases of VAuto and Kelley Blue Book, AutoTrader was not done making purchases. I just could not say officially that Homenet was next!I have known about this for several months, but it was officially announced yesterday. AutoTrader.com intends to operate Homenet as a separate company and most all their elements will remain in tact. I have also known for over a year now that Homenet was working closely with AutoTrader.com so that the backend tool for AutoTrader will soon be Homenet's IOL Lite. This is great news for your dealership if you are also an AutoTrader.com client. Although Homenet already sends updated information to AutoTrader 5x a day, the flow and speed of data between the two companies will most likely improve even more. While we do our best to give each dealership two visits weekly, when mother nature steps in, it is often difficult to acheive. Our photographers will do their best to keep your inventory photographed after these several days of snow and bitter cold that has prevented us from servicing your vehicles. Many of our photographers were out last Saturday, spending an extra day servicing your cars, as they knew that snow was in the forecast for the following week. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and your patience while we work with you and your staff to get things back up to speed.By getting your cars brushed off and your lots plowed, you will allow us to get to your cars sooner. Our photographers will coordinate with you and even come in on Saturday if possible. We will, of course, be mindful of customers, and will contact you for your permission for us to be on your lots on a Saturday before we proceed.
